He speaks very well.. and I’m sure that really bothers alot of people

I watched this many years ago and though I was never a huge fan of his music, I became a fan of him. He speaks eloquently and reasonably. I learned a lot of how to speak to people through this. It does bother people, but even Bill O'Reilly understands how stupid he would look to fly off the handle in response to this behavior. Great observation/perception!

TIME TO TELL THE TRUTH. Ali was a great boxer and a charismatic figure. But his racial views were toxic. He believed in segregation and opposed miscegenation at a time when mixed race couples faced real discrimination. He was an outspoken member of the racist Nation of Islam. Excuses are made for Ali's racism - 'it was the context of the time, he was a black man in America etc' - but why did other prominent black fighters not also spout out the same divisive race-baiting? But try telling these truths and you get shouted down by those who would prefer blind idolatry to objective and empirical truths. Parkinson was a great interviewer and I am pleased he put Ali on the spot with some of this stuff.

I owe my life to Muhammad Ali since 1974 when I first heard him speak on the BBC Michael Parkinson show , and now I fight Parkinson’s disease in his honour.

He hit a nerve with Ali, as great as he was, Parkinson' should not have been looking for a headline and upset Ali, which he did because Ali was extremely easy going

Wow! I wanted to see this specific clip tonight, part of a Tom Waits look back I have been doing lately. I remember the "seamy" accusation, saw this when it was originally broadcast. I knew it was a daytime talk show, but couldn't recall the host's name. So, I looked up talk show hosts of the 70s and 80s. I saw Mike Douglas then did a YT search for an interview with him. Presto! Thanks for sharing this gem! Peace.

The fringe is the bridge between the Goons and Python. Of Course, Fringe's humor was obviously very class based. It was subversive towards the Brit class system. In that sense, Python was more like the Goons. They were sillier and less topical. Of course, I'm just an American and that is an outsider's take on this.

Funny because in Parkinsons later years he said he didn't like Ali there are 2 videos on you tube showing him say that where comments are disabled. One is on the good morning Britain channel. Parkinson was never a match for Ali, Ali battled "Parkinsons" disease for more than 3 decades it wasn't even the reason he left us!

Tavy@ imo i thought ali was the greatest boxer ever. When i saw the way he tired out big george foreman who had the hardest punsh in boxing and was 6ft4 tall and ali was 6ft2 tall i think. But to take it for all those rounds from big george who was a huge guy, then ali had him tired out foreman couldnt do much more then ali knocked him out and ali must have been hurting some where. I thought how can any man just take what the biggest and hardest boxer has got for all those rounds and still be standing as if he hadnt started then knocked big george out with a belter of a punsh to win the fight. Ali the greatest ever!!!!!!!
